My decision to become a Doula was influenced by what I've observed in the media. Following extensive research, I discovered that black mothers face considerable mistreatment in maternity care, including verbal abuse, neglect, discrimination, and dismissal of pain, often resulting from systemic racism and bias, which leads to poorer health outcomes and higher mortality rates. Common issues include healthcare providers ignoring requests, pressuring for unnecessary interventions such as C-sections, and failing to maintain privacy, with data indicating that Black women report these experiences at a disproportionately high rate. Regardless of race or nationality, every birth deserves a doula. Allow TT the Doula, to advocate for you and your family during your most vulnerable moments.
